Position summary
Northeastern Public Health (NEPH) is seeking a Public Health Dietitian to join its team. The Public Health Dietitian is expected to work independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet objectives outlined in the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) and other duties as assigned.
Job responsibilities
- Apply nutrition and public health competencies, including approaches and frameworks to address health inequities.
- Participate in assessing local population health needs, evidence-informed planning.
- Lead the implementation of interventions in collaboration with a variety of partners.
- Participate in knowledge exchange, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate in nutrition or equivalent program from a recognized university; a master’s degree in nutrition, public health, or related is considered an asset.
- Experience working in public health or in community nutrition is considered an asset.
- Proof of registration or eligibility for membership with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Experience in population health assessment, interpreting and synthesizing research and technical information.
- Experience in program planning and evidence-informed decision making.
- Demonstrated skills in project management and in implementing and evaluating population health promotion interventions including social marketing, and healthy public policy.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, facilitation and organizational skills.
- Experience in developing and supporting collaborative relationships with partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within diverse team settings.
- Required to comply with the Health Unit’s immunization policies, which requires vaccination against COVID-19 unless valid medical exemption is provided.
- Fluently bilingual in both official languages is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and transportation to meet programming needs.
